Lost Icons.

These paintings explore lost icons. This imagery underpins western culture and ideals, and many of these mystic icons and the ideas underpinning them have been lost, disregarded, drained of power, mocked, ridiculed or re-appropriated. I believe there is real healing power, love, fortitude and compassion in these icons and the ideas they represent. I desire to rediscover the mysticism and spirituality in the culture that founded the cities we live in, the beauty we see daily, the language we use, and the ideals we hold up. These myths points towards and reframe an even older framework of human spirituality and conception of being.

I desire to retool and use the apparatus of painting to capture the essence of the mystical that underpins and enriches culture, and desire that it re-invigorates and resonates with people, to give them a relationship to their history.
